On May 11, 2006, Clarian Health Partners, Black Nurses Association of
Indianapolis and the Philippine Nurses Association of Indiana (PNA-IN),
co- sponsored the above conference and was held at Methodist Hospital from
8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Mela Miroff, Administrative Director of Methodist Specialty Physicians and
PNA-IN Board Member acted as emcee and moderator for the conference.
Welcome remarks from Clarian Health Partners Senior Nurse Executive
Suzanne Rogers, the BNA of Indianapolis President and PNA-IN President
Redd Knotts were briefly delivered.

The topics of interest were: “Appreciating Our Differences, Working Together
Works, Creating A Mentorship Program, and the ABCs of XYBs which
explored the factors affecting the generations of the Traditionalists, the
Boomers, the X’ers, and the Y’ers”.  A panel discussion on Personal
Perspectives for 75 minutes was held with participation from the attendees.
Mattie Upano, MSN-FNP and PNA-IN President-Elect  was a member of the
panel.

Each attendee took part answering questions from the Self Assessment
Inventory on exploring cultural diversity - how to communicate in a multi-
cultural setting based on a rating scale.  The registration fee for the
conference was $80.00 but active employees of Clarian, BNA and PNA-IN
were admitted free of charge with 6.7 contact hours.  The members of PNA-IN
who attended were: Evelyn Cansino, Nenita DelaCruz, Felgrace James, Redd
Knotts, Marilou Malvar, Vicky Padilla, Florence Pulsifer, Guilly Quintia, Emma
Tolentino, Helen Tracena, Mattie Upano, and Brenda Wheeler.
