4th PNA-IN INDUCTION, AWARDS & FUNDRAISING NIGHT Sheraton Hotel & Suites, Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis March 25, 2006

The new Executive Board for 2006-2007 were inducted to office by the
honorable Jan Bingle, Chief Nursing Officer of Community Health Network.
The program started with an Invocation by Guilly Quintia, Vice-President,
followed by dinner and dessert. Pressy Freeman, Auditor, delivered the
Welcome Address and Josie Jimenez, outgoing President followed with her
speech. Susie Quintia, Treasurer, introduced the guest of honor, Jan
Bingle. Jan spoke of the experiences of Community Health Network’s
representatives, Karen Shanks, Vice-President, Human Resources, and Pam
Heckman, Nursing Selection Specialist, when they went to Manila to interview
the nurse-scholars applicants for the Global Scholarship Alliance program.
Incoming President, Redd Knotts, spoke of the growing number of PNA-IN
membership, reaching out to them, listening and hearing their concerns and
most vital, recognizing their talents. Her presidential theme of Commitment,
Accountability, Responsibility, Excellence, reflects the leadership and
direction in meeting goals and expectations. The highlight of the night was
the Awards Ceremony. The Leadership trophy was bestowed on Josie
Jimenez for guiding PNA-IN as President for 2004-2005. Vicenta “Inday”
Andrade was voted to receive the 2005 Outstanding Member Award and
Eleanore Wilson received the Nurse Excellence & Achievement Award for her
services as a community leader and Vice-President in a hospital setting. In
her absence, Jan Bingle accepted her award. Conchita Musngi-Black, Board
Member, took charge of the Awards Ceremony.
The guests danced to the music of DJ Expo Taghap of Plumrose Productions
from Chicago. In between the entertainment and dancing, raffles and door
prizes were called by Board Members Nitz DelaCruz and Judy Martin. The
event didn’t end after Lina deJesus, Board Member, gave the Closing
Remarks, as the night progressed, guests converged in the hospitality room
for a “midnight snack.“ The gala night program was orchestrated by
Felgrace James, Advisor, with Mattie Upano, President-Elect, and Mela
Miroff, Board Member, as Masters of Ceremonies.
To sum it up, the event was graced with the presence of representatives
from the Filipino-American community and groups such as Community Health
Network, IPMA, PAMET Indiana, Barangay Club of Indiana, Asian American
Alliance Inc., Filipino Friends of Habitat for Humanity, and of course, our very
own, the PNA-IN members with their families and friends. It was indeed a
night of success and remembrance!
